Week 2 Wednesday 31 July 2013

Today in class I expressed my view points and my ideas to my group member based on my research. We came with the idea of improving and modifying the rotation of the valve in internal combustion engines. This is good step for me and my group mate for this week however we need to resolve if we are going ahead with this project and look at what could be done to change the design of the valve. My design was to make groove all around the valve to improve and make the valve rotate faster when entering the fuel and air mixture. But has idea is to build four mechanical jack around the car to reduce the shock absorber deterioration and stop flat spots occurring on tyres. This was great idea  because it involved some calculation and it could be done practically with experimentation.   

Week 1 Wednesday 24 July 2013

In the first class of technology project all students had to choose a colleague and form a group to do the technology project. Therefore I decide to group up with one of my friends that I knew from the previous semester. However we debated about what we should chose for our technology project and after a long argument we still could not come up with a decision. My idea was to change the design of the valve system to get more air in the combustion chamber and by doing that it decreases the emission and reduces fuel economy. But we decided to do some research based on the area and after we will chose a problem and try to eliminated or improve it therefore it would not be a major problem in the future. I reflect today’s class was progressive for me because I managed to be a part of team. The teacher was supportive and he was clear about what he was explaining on the board. He also individually communicated and spoke to each group to make sure everyone is one the same page and heading to the correct direction.
